During National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services is reminding Ohioans that OhioMeansJobs.com and all OhioMeansJobs Centers offer free employment services. The purpose of these tools is to assist people with disabilities in locating and achieving fulfilling professions.
“National Disability Employment Awareness Month has honored the abilities and potential of people with disabilities for eight decades,” stated Matt Damschroder, director of ODJFS. “We are honored to support that endeavor going forward and assist all Ohioans in pursuing fulfilling careers and employers in expanding their teams.”
Additionally, OhioMeansAccessibility, an online resource designed to meet the requirements of job searchers with impairments, is managed by ODJFS. The website provides many of the same services as nearby centers, along with extra resources to help with job modifications, financial independence, and removing obstacles to employment. Applicants can also opt to have their resumes sent specifically to companies that are dedicated to recruiting people with disabilities.
Ohioans have access to over 100,000 job postings throughout the state through OhioMeansJobs.com and OhioMeansAccessibility, along with useful resources like:
- Builders and raters of resumes
- Calculators for budgets
- Evaluations of interest and skillFree online lessons and practice exams for college entrance exams and the GED
